Lifeline Darling Downs, at their Container Refund Depot’s first birthday celebrations on Friday, 1st November, has launched a new drought relief campaign.
CEO, Derek Tuffield OAM said, “We are really delighted to celebrate this milestone and the fact we have processed over 8.5 million containers in our first year. We would like to thank the community for supporting us.”
“Not only have we reduced the amount of rubbish going into landfill, the profits from this venture go towards our crisis support services, making it a very valuable addition to our organisation.”
“With the ongoing drought, we have now decided that until April 2020 all profits from our Container Refund Depots will go directly to our Drought Relief Appeal. We encourage the community to take their containers to our facilities to help our drought-stricken neighbours.”
“We have launched our campaign You Return It, We Return It to remind customers that if you return your containers to us, we will return the profits to those in drought-affected areas who need assistance,” Mr Tuffield OAM said.
What many people may not be aware of is that while you receive your 10 cents per container, Lifeline Darling Downs will receive a processing fee if you take them to our facilities in Toowoomba or Dalby, allowing Lifeline to support your community.
You may support the Drought Relief Appeal even further by choosing to donate your refund to Lifeline Darling Downs, quoting their unique Scheme ID C10004170.
At both the Toowoomba and Dalby Depots you have the option of dropping off eligible containers and receiving an instant cash refund, using the “Express Machine” where the funds are transferred overnight into a nominated bank account, or donating the funds to a carity registered with the scheme.
The Perth Street Depot is located adjacent to the Lifeline Store at 187A Perth Street, Toowoomba, and the Dalby Depot is at 31 Nicholson Street, Dalby.
