Raising Funds To Cure Cancer

The Highfields Big Cuppa
is an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event raising $352.40 for the Cancer Council on Thursday May 16th 2019 at Highfields Pioneer Village. Besides locals from Highfields and Toowoomba attending, there were 15 residents and carers who came in from Dalby Blue Care, and Bob Lackey a visitor from Cairns.

Entertainment by the wonderful Darren Andrews a guitarist and soloist specializing in mid 1960’s rock and roll covers such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, Beatles and Louis Armstrong kept the crowd entertained for hours.

“Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Cancer Council Australia’s most popular fundraising event and the largest, most successful event of its kind in Australia. Last year they raised an amazing $11.9 million to help beat cancer”. says MC James Naumann.

This May, Cancer Council Queensland is encouraging people across the state to gather their friends, family or workmates for a cup of tea and a bite to eat as an Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. While the official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday, May 23, 2019, however participants can register to host a morning tea at any time throughout May or June.

Funds raised help support Cancer Council’s lifesaving cancer research, prevention, advocacy and support programs (like Cancer Council 1800 017 009 Information and Support service) for people facing cancer.
