ABOUT THE ARTIST
I’m Barry David Butler and Iíve been a Singer/Songwriter for many years. From the moment I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show many moons ago, I was off and running. I was always musical and able to make up melodies. I started writing words to my melodies and in the late 1960ís, I was involved in the Anti War groups and writing lots of songs.
At that time I wrote all my own words. Iíve always written the music and sang my own songs. As a matter of fact, I have never heard another person sing one of my songs and Iíve written over 500. I played in bands in the 1970ís and 1980ís and that was my major source of income. All the while I was writing songs and singing them at gigs, along with lots of the current Radio Hits.
For the past 20 years I have continued to write and record.† They always tell you not to quit your day job, but I didnít have one to quit…so I had to get one and became a Nurse LPN.† Nursing helped me survive as I continued my obsessive pursuit of songwriting. About 17 years ago I decided to take on a few lyricists, and that is where I met Roger Antony Carter (lyricist on ďSAVE BLAKE). Weíve written about 100 songs or so together…he lives in England. I use about 5 outside lyricists as well now, and still write my own words.
I have used my songs (melodies and words ) for many causes…too many to mention here.
So….Now Iím older and better, and back into the music full time. Iím not a nurse anymore and looking for some work to sustain my wife and I, but feel a sense of urgency to pursue my music NOW….before itís too late.
