Toowoomba Regional Council and City Heart Toowoomba are organising a major Christmas event for this evening Thursday, 3 December between 4.30pm and 8.00pm with the major focus on the closure of Ruthven Street between Little and Herries Streets, in the City Hall precinct.

Thousands are expected to attend the  2015 Toowoomba CBD Christmas Carnival – a non-stop, free Christmas extravaganza which will feature loads of entertainment and a Santa sack full of surprises.

Entertainment starts at 4.30pm and features many musicians, entertainers and singers including the Helen Earley Ensemble, the Cheerleaders, Harlaxton RSL Brass Band, Sing Australia, High Altitude Harmony, Toowoomba Choral Society and the Helene and Fiona Roving Christmas Minstrels.

Main entertainment locations are Kwong Sang Walk, Gallery Park, City Hall, Village Green, Eat Street and proximate to Lincraft, Gelatissimo, Bank of Queensland and Westpac.
There will be face painting for children, a jumping castle and giveaways plus a movie on Village Green, “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.”

And on top of all that expect to see Santa’s arrival, the lighting of both the Christmas Tree and City Hall and a fabulous Sleigh Parade through town.

And if that’s not enough the CBD business group, City Heart Toowoomba, is organising not one, but two markets in Kwong Sang Walk and Gallery Park.

The group’s media spokesperson  (former Toowoomba Chamber CEO)  Greg Johnson said, “We jumped at the opportunity to organise the markets for Council.”

“Our charter is to bring people to the CBD to benefit our shops, restaurants and cafes and to enjoy this special area. This event will do precisely that.

“We’ll have over twenty local food producers and craftspeople setting up stalls with an incredible range of tasty treats and Christmas gift options.

“It is indeed beginning to look like Christmas and where better to enjoy it than in our wonderful Toowoomba CBD.”
