Carnival Of Joy Coming To Highfields

The Giant Kookaburra, Giant Koala and Giant Cockatoo will meet The Big Cow in Highfields on Sunday the 19th of September at 11am at Highfields Pioneer Village/
The brainchild of Dr Farvardin Daliri OAM. the Carnival of Joy is a state-wide community event celebrating community togetherness with a parade of giant Aussie iconic animal sculptures.

The parade is traveling from Brisbane to Cairns and back, visiting towns and spreading a message of joy and unity to communities along the way.
The Carnival of Joy participated in Cultural Fest on 14-15 August in Townsville in North Queensland, and the giant animals are now on their return trip.

The Carnival of Joy is a progression from Dr Farvardin Daliri OAM’s Giant Laughing Kookaburra. In 2020, after a difficult period of social isolation and distancing, thanks to the pandemic, Dr Daliri took the Giant Laughing Kookaburra, (which he sculpted during lockdown) on the road to bring communities back together and put a smile back on everyone’s faces.

The response has been overwhelming and attracted international media attention. The benefits to those communities lucky enough to receive a visit were obvious and the demand for future visits was so great that the Carnival of Joy was born.

The visit to Highfields on Sunday, September 19th will coincide with the Back to the Big Cow Concert at Highfields Pioneer Village featuring entertainment by Owen Ray and Brendon Walmsley.

There will be Mini Train Rides, Vintage Bus tours, Sausage Sizzle, Billy Tea and Damper, Tours of the Big Cow, Butter Making, Milking of the Cow, Animal Nursery, Light Horse Display, Transport Museum, Fire Engine Museum Tours, Shearing and Working Sheep Dog .

During the month of September the Village will feature a different program every day Tickets are available from the website www.highfieldspioneervillage.com.au or purchase from the entrance on the day.
