Queensland’s Biggest Camellia Show Returns + Launch Photos

A major fundraiser for the Toowoomba Hospice, Queensland’s largest Camellia Show and Garden Expo will be held in 2017 on Saturday and Sunday, 15 and 16 July, at the TAFE Horticulture Pavilion from 9am to 4pm. Associated events will include  visits to a Toowoomba Winter Garden and the official Queensland launch of a brand new camellia.

President Kevin Cotterell said his Committee was “over the moon” with the way in which the event has grown in reputation across the nation. Toowoomba is internationally renowned as ‘The Garden City.’ Our event has grown in stature as a result of that reputation to the point that, for the first time, we have coaches coming from near and far bringing garden lovers to enjoy all that a beautiful Toowoomba winter’s weekend has to offer.”

  • As well as a spectacular display of beautiful camellias, the event will boast an expansive Garden Expo with a range of plants and products that will delight gardeners;
    inspirational speakers (including ABC Gardening Australia’s Jerry Coleby-Williams, Gardening for the Good  Life’s Claire Bickle and our own Brian Sams);
    Japanese camellia tea ceremonies;
    non-stop entertainment;
    combined car club displays and
    art, craft and local produce

Committee member Greg Johnson, who is no stranger to colourful outfits, promises to be wearing his “floral best”.

Greg is quoted as saying “I am amazed at just how the show has grown over the years. It’s really a special time for the Toowoomba Region and marks the beginning of a stunning period culminating in September’s Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.”

Toowoomba Hospice Promotions and Fundraising Manager, Mark Munro added, “We’re very excited about the 2017 event. “Everyone’s a winner – gardeners from near and far, tourism, Toowoomba’s economy and, particularly, the Hospice which is the beneficiary of two marvellous days.”
