2009 Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal ‘blows’ $60,000 Goal

The Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal for 2009 has exceeded all expectations with a figure of $96,682 announced on the eve of Christmas and donations continuing to roll into the office of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

Foundation CEO Peter Rookas said the result of this year’s appeal is outstanding. “We set a goal of $60,000 to purchase a special Humidity Crib & Life Signs monitors for the Special Care Nursery at Toowoomba Hospital and now we have almost enough for two!! Yet again the Toowoomba and Darling Downs community have excelled and more donations are still arriving.”

Mr. Rookas said the community support in the region is overwhelming.

“This community never, ever ceases to amaze me with the way they give to charity. Even in hard times with a financial crisis, tough economy and almost no water in our dams, people still put their hand in their pockets and give their hard earned money to help others.”

He said the extra funds will be used to purchase more much-needed equipment for the Toowoomba Hospital in the area of Children’s Health.

Mr. Rookas heaped special praise on the Children’s Appeal supporters and partners. “This is our 10th year of the appeal and what has been achieved is extraordinary. There have been so many wonderful contributions to this year’s appeal and so many special events. Thank you to everyone who has supported this year’s appeal as you have provided everyone at Toowoomba Hospital with an exceptional Christmas gift.”
