Australians all let us rejoice!!!Â Itâ€™s Australia Day!!!Â Â Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) Mayor Paul Antonio is urging one and all to go to a community event and celebrate Australia Day, Friday January 26th.
â€œWhether itâ€™s an old fashioned Aussie barbie, bush dance, rafting race or a pool party you are looking for, the Toowoomba Region has a ridgy didge event within cooee of you to celebrate our national day.â€
â€œFrom sack races to sheep shearing, Aboriginal dance to farming ingenuityâ€¦â€¦.. There is something for everybody at the events throughout our regionâ€, Mayor Antonio said,” But the one thing we should be doing on Australia Day is rejoicing.â€
â€œLiving in Australia we should all rejoice in our lucky country, rejoice in the values that we hold dear and rejoice in the freedoms we enjoy.
Toowoomba Regional Council Australia Day committee chair Cr Mike Williams said Australia Day awards would be presented at functions to a host of worthy achievers.Â â€œLocal committees have awarded these honours in recognition of outstanding service by people in their respective fields.
â€œIt is pleasing to see people rewarded for their volunteer contributions and community service,” he said.

Free breakfast will be served from 7am and the ceremony will start at 8am.
8.30am to 11.00am, Goombungee Public Hall
There will be a community breakfast with entertainment including vocalist performance, jumping castle and face painting. Award ceremony at 10.00am
11.00am to 6.00pm, Pool party at Goombungee Pool.Â Free entry, inflatable fun, canteen and sausage sizzle.
8.30am to 5.00pm, Highfields Pioneer Village, 73 Wirraglen Road, Highfields
A variety of events all through the day including the official opening of the new shearing shed, miniature train rides etc.
