The 2013 Camellia and Winter Market Festival is shaping up to be a ‘Blooming’ success according to the organising committee.
Indulge your senses with the beauty and the sheer delicacy of the camellia blooms in the Heritage Hall which will be filled with hundreds of exquisite colours from perfect whites to brilliant reds which will add a mass of color and beauty at this year’s 10th Camellia and Winter Market Festival.
Toowoomba Hospice Association Chairman Mr. Graham Barron OAM says “The Camellia and Winter Market Festival organising Committee have added a new touch to this years’ event by adding a Market to sell coffee and local produce. Joan (Falvey) and her committee should be so proud of themselves as they have given the Hospice over $90,000 in 9 years.”
The Toowoomba Hospice is very fortunate to have strong community support, and this is shown in many ways especially with the support shown to the Camellia and Winter Market Festival,” said Mr. Barron.
A delightful ‘Winter Garden’ is also on display, nestled just over the escarpment with views of the Lockyer Valley. This garden is 9 years old and has over 70 camellia trees including a large variety of mature trees and shrubs. Situated at 41 Stenner Street, Toowoomba the open Winter Garden (from 10am – 4pm with an entry fee of $5.00) will coincide with the Camellia and Winter Market Festival. “This is a great opportunity for home gardeners to learn more about camellias and to enjoy a great day out knowing the proceeds are going to the Toowoomba Hospice” said Mrs. Falvey.
Toowoomba Hospice is a not-for-profit, community facility, caring for people with a terminal illness and their families, at no cost. Each year the Hospice, located in O’Quinn Street, needs to raise valuable funds to keep the service running.
The Camellia and Winter Market Festival opens to the public on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of July at TAFE Horticulture Centre from 9am until 4pm each day . Entry is $5.00 per person and children are free. There is free parking and disabled parking, with the entrance off Campbell Street, Toowoomba
