Clients staying at the Toowoomba Hospice have received some wonderful Christmas gifts from a community group and business.
Mr. Mark Munro – Promotions and Fundraising Manager said he was overwhelmed by the intent of people wanting to support the Hospice during the Festive Season “We have had individuals who normally don’t volunteer on a regular basis wanting to help gift wrap at Myer and also volunteer a few hours at the Toowoomba Christmas Wonderland. We also had two special donations of gifts for the Hospice to use on and after Christmas.
The Sovereign, Order of St Johns donated a hamper pack of toiletries, and the second donation of gifts was from DC Accounting.
Mr. Jim Tyrell from the Order of St Johns said he and the members wanted to do something special for a special Charity and thought of the Toowoomba Hospice “The Hospice has played a special part for a few of our fellow members and we thought it would be nice to put together a special hamper of nice smelling items like soaps, perfumes and aftershaves”
Director of DC Accounting, Ms Michelle Reynolds said “In previous years the firm has normally purchased charity Christmas cards to send to our clients. However, this year instead we put together our own Christmas letter to send to our clients allowing us to donate the money we would normally spend on Christmas cards to a local charity.
It was decided by all staff this year we would use the money to donate items of use to the Toowoomba Hospice like, body pillows, aroma therapy oils/burner and a Christmas gift basket.”
Toowoomba Hospice is a six bed facility which offers FREE respite and palliative care for the terminally ill. The Hospice is a community charity organisation with an annual budget of $1.2 million, and relies heavily on Toowoomba and the surrounding districts for support.
Mr. Munro says it is community minded groups and businesses like DC Accounting and the Order of St John that makes the job that bit easier when it comes to raising money. “We are proud to call them Mates of the Hospice”
