Hundreds of guests will indulge in fun, fashion, fine food and a flutter at the Toowoomba Turf Club on Saturday, September 3, for the 17th annual St Vincent’s Hospital – Black Family Charity Race Day.
The twilight racing meet is St Vincent’s Hospital’s premier charity event and features a fast paced, seven-race program, including the prestigious St Vincent’s and Black Family Cup.
St Vincent’s Hospital General Manager, Mr Carl Yuile, said the race day was an ideal way to combine the atmosphere and excitement of a day at the track with the satisfaction of supporting a worthy cause. “This event is not only a major highlight on our social calendar, but it helps us raise money to purchase the latest technology and equipment for the hospital,” Mr Yuile said.
“The proceeds from last year’s event enabled us to acquire a renal dialysis machine for our Clive Berghofer Intensive Care Unit; a vital piece of equipment that has saved the lives of a number of critically ill renal patients from Toowoomba and the Darling Downs. This year we are raising funds for four new environmentally-friendly LED lights for our operating theatres. These create minimal heat generation, which will assist patients and surgeons during major operations” he said.
St Vincent’s Race Day guests will be treated to champagne and canapés on arrival and a three-course meal in a private marquee. Also, there will be the opportunity to bid on a stellar line up of auctions items including original artwork by Anna Bartlett.
Tickets are available through St Vincent’s Hospital Communications and Marketing Department on 4690 4182.
