The Museum of Australian Army Flying at Oakey will be holding the 6th Annual Fly-In on the 1st-2nd October which promises to be a fun packed weekend for the whole family.
Board Secretary, Mrs Helen Bawden OAM said one of this year’s drawcards will be the Roulettes, which will give a display each day.
“The Roulettes are an exciting elite, world class aerobatic display team that showcase the Royal Australian Air Forces flying skills.” Mrs Bawden said.
Squadron Leader Tony Blair will fly two aerobatic displays in his Rebel 300 each day at the event.
Other attractions will include an ex Army Cessna 180, Trojans, Antonov AN2, Auster and Sioux helicopter.
Current aircraft from the Oakey Army Aviation Centre will also be on display for visitors to get up close to and inspect, such as the Kiowa, Black Hawk, Tiger and the new high tech MRH90 helicopter.
Mrs Bawden said, “We are anticipating that some of these aircraft will be involved in flying training activities next to the Museum over the weekend so you are likely to see them in action.“
The Toowoomba Aeromodellers’ Association will show their expertise with model flying throughout the weekend, the Darling Downs Scale Modellers will have a comprehensive static display and the Army Group South will have a very big display of memorabilia and old vehicles.
“The Toowoomba Municipal Band will entertain visitors on Sunday from 12.30 to 1.30 with music for all ages to enjoy”, Mrs Bawden added.
Gates open at 10am, parking is free and entrance is $5 for adults with children under 12 free. There will be many food stalls on site and the souvenir shop will be open.
