Premier vocal group, the Toowoomba Vocal Ensemble, is giving the public a chance to experience their smooth harmonies in a special “Live at Gold Park” performance on Friday, 26th November at 7:30pm.
The group can usually only be heard at corporate functions, but once a year, they invite friends and members of the public to join them at an intimate venue – this time, the Ballymore Room at Gold Park, Hume Street.“It is an ideal setting for us to sing acoustically,” said musical director, Elaine Coates. “Our repertoire covers close-harmony favourites like Manhattan Transfer and Idea of North covers, popular contemporary songs, jazz and gospel.”
“We are also including in the programme Michael Buble songs ‘Sway’ and ‘Mack the Knife’; Roberta Flack’s ‘Killing Me Softly with His Song’ and two Riverdance-inspired songs guaranteed to get the toes tapping.”
The 18-member ensemble sings both a capella and accompanied, and also breaks into trios and quartets featuring different members of the group. There are still limited tickets to the cabaret-style evening available at $15. Supper is provided and the bar will be open throughout the evening.
