The Top Job recruitment evening is set to kick off again for its sixth year. Despite the challenges for many businesses across Australia, local employers are ensuring the future success of their operations by investing time to consider employing the young people of Toowoomba. Pro-active employers are coming along to Top Job to talk to young people about vacant positions within their company to help these potential employees get a ‘kick start’ on their careers.
DISCO CEO Mike Paton said; “Toowoomba and the region is fighting back against uncertainty and it’s is important for companies to look to their future and ensure the prosperity of their organisations, by continuing to develop their workforce and attract entry level staff. Top Job is a great way for employers to meet motivated young people who are looking to begin their employment and career journey”.
Employment Assistance Officer at DISCO Andrew Spradbrow also commented; “We would really love to break some records this year and have in place more than 220 vacancies, and get at least 120 graduating students into jobs before Christmas. This would probably represent a local record ”. Remember this event is for vacancies commencing in late 2011 or early 2012 so young people can still have a break before commencing work”. Mr Spradbrow said.
This year’s event will be at the City Golf Club on the 27th of October from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. The event is open to young people under the age of 24. Registrations are currently being taken for both young people and employers who are wishing to attend.
The event is completely free so if you wish to take part please contact Andrew Spradbrow or Carissa Kennedy at DISCO on 4638 3088.
