The passion for helping people less fortunate in need during Winter time will see over 200 motorcycle enthusiasts take to the streets of Toowoomba this weekend when the Downs Motorcycle Sporting Club (DMCSC) conducts their Annual Blanket Run for the Salvos on Sunday (25th May) from Picnic Point.
Bikers from all over the Downs, South East Queensland and northern NSW will converge on Picnic Point from different starting points before winding their way along an 80km trek through Greenmount and then back through the streets of Toowoomba and out Glenvale Road to the clubhouse headquarters of DMCSC at the Toowoomba Showgrounds at approximately 2.00pm.
DMCSC’s Nathan Beddoes said there were bikers coming from everywhere. “We’ll have riders from Brisbane, Ipswich, Wondai and even south to Tenterfield joining us for this annual event as well as our Downs riders. Anyone with a motorcycle or scooter is more than welcome to join in. All we ask is for each rider to bring a blanket.†Nathan can be contacted for more details, phone 0437 335 124 .
The motorcyclists will leave Picnic Point at 12.00 midday & following their ride will arrive around 2.00pm at the DMCSC headquarters at the Toowoomba Showgrounds & assemble at the Clive Berghofer Pavillion to present the blankets to the Salvation Army.
The Toowoomba West Lions Club & the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation will provide a Sausage Sizzle for a gold coin donation to the Toowoomba Hospital Children’s Appeal.
