Toowoomba’s Christmas Tree Festival Turns Twelve!

Tooowoomba’s Christmas Tree Festival 2015 will be starting soon, and will again be held at Middle Ridge Uniting Church, 264 Stenner Street, Middle Ridge.

The Festival will open on Wednesday, December 9th and will run daily till Friday December 18th, from 9 am to 9 pm.

The Theme for 2015 is “The Blessings of Christmas” and will incorporate sectional displays featuring many aspects of the major theme. As has become customary, the Mayor of the Toowoomba Region, Cr Paul Antonio, has graciously agreed to attend on the first night and perform the official opening as part of the evening entertainment.

Music from Bands, Choral groups, ensembles and individuals will form a part of the concert program, with a concert each evening at 7 pm and a matinee most mornings at 10.30am. On Sunday December 13th, the Middle Ridge Musicians will lead the music for our Annual Carols Service. All are welcome. The concert program may be viewed on our website

Individuals and community groups are invited to register to decorate a tree (provided ) and the committee is asking for volunteers to assist with the running of the Festival. Applications for both of these areas of involvement may be found on our website, toowoomba’schristmastreefestival.

The Festival is an annual Community Event in Toowoomba which is now in its 12th year. Residents of Toowoomba, the Darling Downs, and all surrounding areas are most welcome.

Visitors are asked to make a gold-coin donation, the proceeds of which this year will be donated equally between “Buy-a-Bale, a charity designed to assist struggling farming communities Queensland, and Kairos Prison Ministry, a organisation offering counselling to inmates of the Wacol Remand Centre. An empty Christmas Tree, where donations of food and/or money will provide an opportunity to give to the work of Toowoomba City Church’s outreach.

In addition to the display of trees and the concert program, visitors will see our craft display and stall, our children’s story-book corner, and refreshments will be available. The Darling Downs Rotary Club will be in attendance each evening with a  sausage-sizzle and drinks.

Please come and share with us the celebration of the Birth of Jesus as a community.
